Minecraft is a game developed by Markus Persson’s which is still in Alpha testing however is already a huge game which has already sold hundreds of thousands of copies. Although minecraft does not have amazing graphics this is part of what makes Minecraft so great and fun.
You start the game in the middle of a massive randomly generated map and from here you are free to do whatever you wish. The main aim of Minecraft is to collect resources in order to build a shelter to survive. There are many different resources such as wood, rock, coal and many more. Wood and coal are probably the most important resources to get your hands on at the start of the game because as dark falls the zombies will be out to get you and with wood and coal you will be able to craft torches which without you would not be able to see a thing.
Zombies are just one among the many other strange creatures which come out at night. All of the creatures are very powerful and if you are caught outside in the night unprepared then you are just asking to be killed. When you die you loose all of your items however your items will be scattered on the floor and if your quick enough you will be able to get them back. When you die you always re-spawn in the same place and therefore it is advisable to create your shelter nearby. It is very annoying when you create something amazing and can never find it again. The map is massive and you will never run out of space, you can build up into the sky and go down until you hit “bedrock” which is the only block in the game that cant be destroyed by anything.
Crafting plays a huge part in minecraft as it allows you to turn your natural resources such as wood and rock into tools, weapons, furniture and other items. To craft most items you will need a crafting bench which you can be made for 4 wooden planks using your small inventory crafter.
Minecraft is still in development and admittedly there are a few glitches however it is still in Alpha and it is all round a very good game. Minecraft now also allows players to play together in Mutiplayer Mode. To do this you have to join a Multiplayer Server and then you are free to do what you want just like in the normal game but with your friends. A debatable disadvantage of multiplayer is that other players have the ability to destroy the things you create but in my opinion this is all part of the fun of multiplayer and if you want to create something to keep then you should do it on single player mode. Multi-player mode still needs a lot of development and there are a lot of things that you cant yet do in Multiplayer such as combat with monsters.
