Sherlock Holmes’ enemy was professor Moriarty that was only mentioned in the tale The Final Problem for the first time. At first Conan Doyle wanted to portray the death of Sherlock Holmes that he was going to meet in the final fight with professor Moriarty. However, since the story has become very popular among the readers he came up with a decision to change the end.
Conan Doyle created four different novels and more than fifty stories that featured great Sherlock Holmes. Usually the stories were combined when the film industry was going to shot a film. The first film that was shot in the Hollywood and that closely followed the original story was the movie “The Hound of the Baskervilles”. After that they started to produce other stories.
