Twelve years after ‘Titanic’ success, James Cameron got up again and seeks his fortune that made him popular in movie maker world. Now he chose to jump into science fiction genre that requires a lot of visual effects. It seems, specialization and Cameron’s fortunes are here!!!
Avatar becomes one of the most anticipated movies to close this year. Who will not be interested in films that held a group of soldiers with h9igh level of visual effects, a variety of creatures from another world with super-sophisticated 21 century setting. Once again James Cameron has proved his cold hands to create something amazing.
Remarkably, as usual, Cameron does not retell or make adaptations from existing art. This was as he did with ‘Alien’ and all ‘Terminator’, to ‘Sarah Connor Chronicles’.
According to Cameron, Avatar is already in his head since many years ago. Unfortunately there is no technology that can support the visualization like his description. The man who won the Best Director award through the ‘Titanic’ has completed perfect various computer character graphics (CG).
Avatar is a movie start on 2154, when a multinational company created mine colony on Pandora a planet far from Earth. The planet’s original inhabitants by Na’vi or blue monkey that fight against people who are considered as an evil.
On here humans are completed equipped with armor and some kind of robot costumes that allow them to move on Pandora planet. A story about a soldier who lost his leg, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), who must learn to control biological body’s which is from human DNA and Na’vi.
Sully has a task to dig information about Na’vi community from inside. The reason is, human are trying to dig a precious stone where the largest mine is located just below native village’s. In Na’vi village also lies a sacred tree with the entire recorded history, memory, and policies that must be protected by Na’vi.
Sully finally having close relationship to a Na’vi named Neytiri (Zoë Saldaña) who taught him to live in the forest, speaking Na’vi language, traditions and how to respect nature. In the end they fall in love. Sully began to like to live like Na’vi people. He forgot his duty to dig up information about Na’vi.
Sully trying hard to find a way of peace for both sides but unfortunately Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), always felt the opposite. Pandora’s war against the entire human filled the last third of this film. Na’vi conventional weapons have to deal with sophisticated missiles and human bullets.
Like when Cameron describes the sinking of the giant ship Titanic, the great battle became very lively and detailed. Cameron seemed to give full attention on every aspect. All attack after attack scenes, even the cowards were clearly defined.

Hubby: It depends on how much you want to spend or IF you want to spend. If you don’ t, have him go as Han Solo: White long sleeve shirt, brown vest, blue pants, black boots. Better yet— throw on a hooded robe or a brown blanket over his head that drapes down and you’ ve got your Obi- Wan Kenobi. If you do want to spend— wow— you can drop quite a bit of cash. There’ s the Darth Vader for 80 and then the 699 Darth Vader! Not to mention the 449 Chewbacca or the 699 Storm Trooper…
During the film, I was momentarily jarred by most of the same things that were been mentioned here, but for the most part, I overcame them as my expectations progressed. Even the over zealous depiction of capitalism or the over bearing were accepted as being a critical section of the story. But there one technical issue that (oddly enough, I guess) irked me. I had no way to go back and view it again, but I’m pretty sure that when the Colonel was killed, he took his hands off the robot controls, trying to remove the arrow/bolt. Yet, with the Colonel’s death, the robot TOPPLED OVER! I would have expected such a machine just to simply stop moving and stand there.
