Fan excitement for The Avengers movie is reaching a fever pitch, and the release of Captain America: The First Avenger on July 2011 is bound to push things even further. Chris Evans plays Steve Rogers, a sickly teenager who volunteers to take an experimental Super Soldier serum that eventually turns him into the titular character.

Captain America’s defining characteristic is his leadership. He is the undisputed leader of The Avengers and is often seen leading the team into battle with the shout “Avengers Assemble!”.
The Avengers are a superhero team composed of Marvel’s mightiest heroes. The team is headed by Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor. The upcoming film will also include Hawkeye, the Black Widow, and The Hulk.
Marvel Studios is aiming to create a shared movie universe for most of its characters. The studio has already released highly successful films such as Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and most recently, Thor. The team leader’s feature film, Captain America: The First Avenger, is expected to generate momentum for the box-office tentpole The Avengers in 2012 and kick start an upsurge in Marvel merchandise sales through t shirts featuring Captain America on them, hoodies and more.
Robert Downey, Chris Hemsworth, and Scarlett Johansson will reprise their roles as Iron Man, Thor, and the Black Widow. The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo, and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) are also included. Joss Whedon, creator of cult-classic Buffy The Vampire Slayer, will direct the movie.
